The judging panel may nominate a person for a Special Merit Award. The recipient of such an award will have made a significant and noteworthy contribution to the law that deserves to be celebrated. The achievements of such a recipient celebrated by the Special Merit Award are not easily categorised under an existing award designation.  This is a closed category and any recipient will be selected by the judging panel.

The Probate Law Firm/Team/Lawyer of the Year Award will honour a law firm, a team within a law firm, or an individual lawyer who has demonstrated excellence in the provision of legal services relating to probate law during recent times and, in particular, since April 2023. The criterion set out in the foregoing paragraph should be reflected in submissions and such submissions should also refer to the following: ● Significance of an achievement or achievements relevant to the category; ● Quality of legal services offered and legal expertise relevant to the category; and ● Delivery of excellence in client service and effective communication with clients.
